It&#8217;s so great to see the corridors of LinkedIn bustling with activity again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyway, there&#8217;s a lot of ground to cover, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#legal-tech-essentials\">Bucerius Legal Tech Essentials are back!<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#how-to-sell-to-lawyers\">How to sell to lawyers<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#legal-design-methodologies\">Legal Design Methodologies<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#standard-templates\">How to make standard templates<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#changed-my-name\">The internal struggles when your name is different or &#8220;difficult to pronounce&#8221;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"legal-tech-essentials\"><strong>#1 Bucerius Legal Tech Essentials are coming back<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This one is exciting &#8211; Bucerius is coming back this fall with their Legal Tech Essentials, this time in cooperation with the SMU Yong Pung How School of Law and Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It involves 60-90 minutes talks from mid-November to early December on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, optimised for most timezones (check out specific times in the link below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I can only recommend this series (it was, after all, one of the reasons why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/barboraobracajova_legaltech-legaloperations-legaldesign-activity-6962422770848669696-DC3d?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">I attended the Summer School from the same production<\/a>). With my first name (Barbora), a good percentage of people outside Slavic language group just don&#8217;t notice\/care to pronounce or spell it properly (if I got a penny for each very distinct Barbara,&#8230;). With my last name, most people don&#8217;t actually even bother, and I kind of gave up on even asking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I like using Baru &#8211; not to fit in, that&#8217;s not really that big of a deal for me. But to be honest, using it also helps to avoid hearing my name butchered every single time I speak to certain people. Having to sit through a 30 minute meeting, being called <em>Barbara<\/em> at a rate of 3 times per minute? Got me screaming. Call me <em>Barb<\/em>? No, thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These voices from the legal industry had it definitely even harder than me, and are incredibly important to hear and listen to. Making an effort to at least learn others&#8217; names properly is bare minimum if we want to create inclusive environments, in law and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#1d4007\"><strong>Quick takeaway:<\/strong> Make an effort to learn the names of others. Ask them, how they want to be called.
