{"id":3160,"date":"2024-02-19T09:56:53","date_gmt":"2024-02-19T08:56:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/attorneyatcode.com\/?p=3160"},"modified":"2024-04-20T22:03:40","modified_gmt":"2024-04-20T20:03:40","slug":"february-finds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/attorneyatcode.com\/cs\/february-finds\/","title":{"rendered":"February Finds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/barboraobracajova_legaldesignbookclub-activity-7160241509131280384-G_Yg?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop\">Attorney-at-Code turned two years old<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HK6y8DAPN_0\">OpenAI broke the internet (again) with Sora<\/a>, and the Generative AI frenzy is nowhere near stopping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below are some of my favorite reading and writing from the past month, including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#pearls-in-gloves-off\">a podcast episode where Legal Ops legend talks with a Innovative Law School legend about Generative AI use cases and legal education<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#Gen-AI-in-MA\">a summary of responses in a poll of 300 M&amp;A practitioners about where GenAI is going <\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#legal-design-bookclub\">a book that will help you frame your non-linear legal career<\/a>a<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#more-reading\">some more reading on a wide range of topics &#8211; from EdTech to tech washing<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pearls-in-gloves-off\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NbF5GjS1DCc\">Mary O&#8217;Caroll and Andrew Perlman on AI, education, and law<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-194f808a9e8d1128fc0049144b726a39 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#1d4007\"><strong>Quick takeaway:<\/strong> Confidentiality is still the biggest worry and limiting factor in generative AI use, but long-term these issues are likely to be solved &#8211; Due diligence is of course on the chopping block, as this is an area that has been a target for disruption by many AI tools even before ChatGPT took over the spotlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But important to note: &#8220;In terms of realizing benefits, it takes us as much time to go through generative AI as it saves us in writing summaries or crafting reports.\u201d It is an important message: <a href=\"https:\/\/attorneyatcode.com\/cs\/generative-ai-adoption\/\"><strong>you need to invest the time to understand the tech and prototype to reap the benefits and maintain your edge down the line<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I found this article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/thebrainyacts.beehiiv.com\/subscribe?ref=JqDJyxh6ut\">Brainyacts newsletter by Josh Kubicki<\/a>, which remains one of the most interesting sources on the topic.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"legal-design-bookclub\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/attorneyatcode.com\/cs\/introducing-legal-design-bookclub\/\">Legal Design Book Club<\/a><\/strong> is reading <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/attorneyatcode.com\/cs\/legal-design-bookclub-range\/\">Range<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-662d784a255c3f12acff5bd352bab127 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#1d4007\"><strong>Quick takeaway:<\/strong> Range is a fantastic book for anyone considering or navigating a non-linear career path. Join the legal design book club to talk about creativity, productivity, and other related topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawyers tend to be hyperspecialised.\u00a0As building yourself up as an expert in your field takes a lot of time, we are told as early as law school: now is the time to choose one topic for the rest of your life,\u00a0or you are going to fall behind.<br><br>Range, on the other hand, argues that <strong>insights into how broad knowledge across multiple fields can fuel innovation and problem-solving<\/strong>.
