Introducing: Legal Design Bookclub

I used to read a lot before I started practicing law. But then the dozens of books became a handful and then borderline nonexistent to just one sad book in 2020 (when I was mostly preoccupied with way too much work and late night crying over CS50 presets).

I actually consider it a sign of that I am doing much better, as a person and a professional, as I started focusing on other aspects of law and education (evidence provided: my Goodreads).

Fast forward to right now: it is February 5th and I read nine books in the new year so far. And as with everything I do, I would like to share this experience with others, inspire, and engage.

Hence:

Introducing Legal Design Bookclub by Attorney-at-Code

I follow both Oprah and Reese Witherspoon’s book clubs on instagram and these have been a source of great joy.

But in the Legal Design Bookclub, I would like to put special focus on some of the books that expand on ideas such as creativity, productivity, design, and the future of law and our society.

How it will happen

I will introduce one book for each month of the year. Happy to hear your thoughts and suggestions on what we should read next. I will still need to think about the nitty gritty of how to share ideas about the books.

The main thing is: I just want to read and share the ideas with you, so I will definitely whip up a post or other format to make that happen. Even if reading is not really your thing (or perhaps you are in your busy lawyer era), that is totally fine. We can do it together in whichever way works.

And I’d be more than happy if you chose to participate.

Book #1 coming soon

We will officially kick off the Legal Design Bookclub on Thursday – it just feels like a good day to start reading a new book, so that you can cuddle up in a blanket with some tea during the weekend and then tell all your colleagues about it on the following Monday.

Let me know in the comments if you have any specific book that you would like to share with others!

Have a great week,

Baru
